About Us
Mr. Vitaya Saeng-Aroon
Bangkok Gay Men’s Chorus (BKGMC) is Thailand’s first gay chorus, dedicated to spreading love, acceptance, and unity through the power of music. The ensemble showcases the talent and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, aiming to inspire audiences to help build a world of equality and deeper understanding of the differences that enrich our society.
This chorus brings together gifted singers from diverse backgrounds, promoting LGBTQ+ participation and equality through musical performance. Beyond artistry, BKGMC aspires to serve as a vital form of Soft Power, driving Thailand forward through Pride-Pop (Pride popular music) that has the potential to generate cultural and economic value from Pride communities worldwide.
Who Are we
Bangkok Gay Men’s Chorus (BKGMC) was founded in December 2022 to bring together gay men who share a love for music, a spirit of volunteerism, and a commitment to serving society. Inspired by similar choruses in other countries that have gained global recognition, BKGMC strives to create meaningful musical works while fostering community and cultural pride.
Beyond its core mission of promoting acceptance and understanding, the chorus is dedicated to giving back to society. At its debut concert in April, performed in collaboration with the Siam Chorus, BKGMC donated a total of 15,000 THB from concert proceeds to the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand under the Royal Patronage and Ban Dek Ramindra School. Attending the concert was not only a joyful musical experience but also a way to support lives in need.
Looking ahead, BKGMC is seeking talented, enthusiastic, and community-minded individuals who love singing to audition and become part of the chorus. Details can be found on the official Facebook page: Bangkok Gay Men’s Chorus. Join us in shaping a new chapter for the LGBTQ+ community, creating beautiful music, and sharing messages of love and unity together.
Membership Information Currently, BKGMC has 30 members, including entrepreneurs, business leaders, senior executives, designers, fortune tellers, musicians, singers, marketers, and financial professionals. Members range in age from 26 to over 50, reflecting the diversity and richness of the community.
In some countries, being gay makes it illegal to sing on stage. It’s 2024
